About the History of Japan’s Imperial Family

日本にほんには、とても長ながい歴史れきしを持もつ皇室こうしつがあります。
Japan has an Imperial Family with a very long history.

最初さいしょの天皇てんのうは、紀元前きげんぜん660年ねんに天皇てんのうになった神武天皇じんむてんのうだと言いわれています。
It is said that the first emperor was Emperor Jimmu, who became emperor in 660 BCE.

現在げんざいの天皇てんのうは、第だい126代だいです。
The current emperor is the 126th in the imperial line.

昔むかしの日本にほんでは、天皇てんのうは神かみに近ちかい存在そんざいだと考かんがえられていました。
In ancient Japan, the emperor was believed to be close to the gods.

今いま、天皇てんのうは日本にほんの象徴しょうちょうですが、そのやさしくてまじめな人柄ひとがらは、多おおくの人ひとに尊敬そんけいされています。

天皇陛下てんのうへいかは、若わかいころイギリスのオックスフォード大学だいがくに留学りゅうがくしていました。
The emperor studied at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom when he was young.

皇室こうしつとイギリス王室おうしつの交流こうりゅうは、約やく150年ねんも続つづいています。
The Japanese Imperial Family and the British Royal Family have had exchanges for about 150 years.

この長ながい交流こうりゅうは、二ふたつの国くにの大切たいせつな友情ゆうじょうをしめしています。

また、伝統行事でんとうぎょうじや公務こうむをとおして、日本にほんの文化ぶんかや考かんがえ方かたを未来みらいへ伝つたえています。
